Compressor seized, burnt out or not worth repairing? Don't pay to get rid of it. We buy scrap air compressors and refrigeration and air conditioning compressors from businesses and engineers across the UK, from single units to bulk loads.
Yes. Compressors contain valuable metals, including copper in the motor windings, plus steel and cast iron in the body and, in some units, aluminium. That makes them worth more than ordinary mixed steel. Broken air compressors may also have parts that can be reused, such as motors, controllers and airends, which can add to the value.

Air compressors
Refrigeration and AC compressors
Refrigeration and air conditioning compressors can contain refrigerant gases (F-gases) and oil. By law, refrigerant must be recovered by an F-gas certified engineer before a unit is scrapped. It must never be vented.
We only accept refrigeration and AC compressors that have been properly degassed, with confirmation from the engineer who recovered the refrigerant. If you're an engineer replacing compressors, this is normally already part of your job.

Because metal prices change daily, we price every load on the day. Send us details and photos for an up-to-date figure.

Not every broken compressor is scrap. A unit with a single fault, such as a failed motor or a controller problem, may still be worth repairing and reselling. We'll look at what you have and pay the better of the two: a resale price or a scrap price.
If it might still be fixable, see how we buy faulty industrial air compressors and diesel compressors.

If you regularly replace compressors, the old units can pile up in the van or the yard. We can set up regular collections so your scrap compressors leave on a schedule and you get paid for them, rather than paying for disposal.

It depends on its size, type and the metal prices on the day. Compressors are usually worth more than general steel because of the copper in the motor. Send us details for a current price.
Yes, as long as the refrigerant has been recovered by an F-gas certified engineer before collection.
Yes, though larger units and bulk loads are more cost-effective to collect.
If you can do it safely and dispose of the oil properly, yes. It makes the unit easier to process. If not, tell us and we'll take that into account.
Yes. We can arrange scheduled collections for engineers and service companies.
Got other scrap metal as well as compressors? Our sister company We Buy Any Scrap Metal buys commercial scrap of every kind.
Tell us what you have and how many, and we'll give you an up-to-date price.
